Our appliances are now all produced in at the Asko factory in Sweden to exacting quality standards. So much so that every single machine, unlike almost all others, is tested before it leaves the factory for operation and quality. But this is only a part of the story on why we chose in 2010 to move exclusively to the Swedish made appliances and also only part of the story about the factory and it's outstanding environmental credentials.

The people at the factory are so passionate about the quality levels and the quality of their and their surrounding environment that a huge effort is made to make the environmental impact of the factory as low as possible. Things such as using wind turbines to generate electricity, marking all components weighing over 50g for recycling and using as much reclaimed steel as possible in production, lowering energy use levels, both in the factory and in the appliances it builds all help to minimise the impact that our machines have on our environment.

The factory in Vara, Sweden actually sits on a water table and due to Swedish legislation the level of waste allowed to escape in the area is very low. So much so that, several years ago, the factory was inspected by Swedish officials who stated that the factory could no longer use traditional painting methods on the appliances being produced. As a result of this the factory sought another way. The solution was to powder coat the machines rather than using paint which achieved several goals at once, it reduced emissions from the factory and allowed it to exceed the legal requirements by a considerable margin, it gave the appliances a far better finish and, that finish has proved to be far more durable than traditional painting methods.

In 1999 the factory had come so far that it received environmental certification under ISO 14001.

If you choose to buy your appliances from ISE, you get not only a sustainable, high-design product but you can be sure that you have made an environmentally sound choice that extends not only to the high levels of performance from the machine itself, but right back to where and how it was made.
